Golden Nugget Productions is a Toronto-based production company that focuses on the art of storytelling.  We believe that each and every project deserves its own formula so that the final product doesn’t get labeled as just “another brick in the wall.”

Our stories have taken us across the globe, from Jamaica, Kenya, Botswana, and Brazil, to China, Taiwan, the Philippines and Korea.  Our mantra is one of exploration and individuality, and there’s no limit to the distance we’re willing to go for a story worth capturing.  We specialize in delivering those personal, and honest stories that often go untold. Hsiung is currently working on a documentary called Within Every Woman, which focuses on a handful of former comfort women who survived Japan’s brutal institutionalized system of rape during WWII.

In 2009 Hsiung directed, shot and edited two shorts for Schools Without Borders and Aeroplan’s “Beyond Miles” campaign. Exploring the impact Aeroplan members can make with their donations, Hsiung highlighted programs in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Nairobi, Kenya.

In 2008, Hsiung directed, shot and edited A New Face For Beijing – a six part mini series on the Bejing Olympics in co-production with Radio Canada International and the Canadian Broadcasting Channel. Over the course of 6 months, Hsiung produced a 10-minute episode every three weeks, documenting Beijing’s preparations leading up to the games, it’s people, and the 17 days of Olympic frenzy.
